Beer Bread Recipe

3 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/3 cup sugar
1 can or bottle of room temperature beer

1/2 cup melted butter

Thoroughly mix the flour, salt and baking powder. Pour in the beer. Mix just until ingredients are moist. Pour into a greased, 9x5 loaf pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Pour half of the melted butter over the bread. Bake for another 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and pour remaining butter over the bread. Let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes. Remove from pan and allow to finish cooling on a wire rack.

Baking temperature 35O Degrees.
Yields one loaf.

This recipe is especially good with soup or chili on a fall or winter day.

  2. Oops! I just saw your comment today! (I'm a bit slow, huh!) Thank you! I use this recipe often. It sure beats having to pay a certain Minnesota company several dollars for their packaged version. I recently cut out two more beer bread recipes, one which has herbs, and the other which omits the butter. I will try them both eventually, although I think the butter adds half of the flavor.
